I began playing the piano at the age of 5, taught by my mum, Barbara Bray, a well respected piano teacher in her own right. My love affair with music took me away from Cornwall to London and the London College of Music. I obtained my Diplomas and degree and then continued on to a Post Graduate in ‘Accompaniment’.
I started my own practice of 40 pupils in and around Hampstead and Highgate and worked as a freelance accompanist and teacher for the BBC.
I then spent 20 years as Head of Music at St. Mary’s School Hampstead, a wonderful girls catholic primary School where the Performing arts was highly regarded. This also allowed me to provide piano accompaniment to the children for their ABRSM and other exam boards for a wide variety of instruments.
However, 2020 arrived and I felt it was time to return home to Cornwall and start my private practice back where my musical journey began. The advances in technology and online learning have given me the opportunity to keep some students in London and around the country.
About me
Since 2000, I’ve been working with students of all ages and abilities and guiding them as they increase their practical and theoretical skills. I love sharing my passion with others and am so grateful that I get to do this incredible job every single day.
As someone who had to practice incredibly hard to get where I am today, I know the importance of a good Music Teacher. I’ve taken everything I have learned over the years and combined it into an approach that is friendly, approachable and effective. Contact me to find out more.
